Shooting at Memphis rapper Yo Gotti’s restaurant kills 2 and hurts 5
On Wednesday night, there was a shootout at a restaurant in Memphis, Tennessee, that rapper Yo Gotti owns. At least two people were killed, and five others were hurt in the shooting.

On March 29, around 11 p.m., a shooting was outside Yo Gotti’s Prive restaurant. In the fight, two men were killed. One was found dead at the scene, and the other died of his injuries at a nearby hospital.
Five other people were hurt: a 37-year-old man, a 35-year-old man, a 31-year-old man, a 30-year-old man, and a 25-year-old woman. The police have not said how they are doing. The Memphis Police Department has put out a statement about what happened: “At 11:17 p.m. on March 29, 2023, officers went to a shooting outside 6980 Winchester. Two men who had died were found. One was declared dead at the scene, and the other was taken to the critical care unit at Regional One Health, where he was later pronounced dead.

When the shooting happened at the restaurant, neither the 41-year-old rapper nor his family was there. Arthur Horne, Yo Gotti’s lawyer, just told the local reporters that the shooting happened outside the restaurant as they were closing up.
“On behalf of Prive, I would like to state that they have been in business for the past ten years and have never had anything even remotely similar to this occur. The altercation took place in the parking lot, and it culminated with shots being discharged. Inside the restaurant, nothing went wrong. Even though there were different stories, they were closing, and this happened at night in the parking lot,” Horne said.
The news comes just eight months after Memphis police stopped a shooting at the Rake It Up rapper’s eighth annual Birthday Bash show in July last year. After that, the individual was brought into custody. Officers were dispatched to the 200 block of South Main Street in order to deal with a mentally sick individual who was armed. Elijah Hyman and his girlfriend were present when the officers arrived at the scene to investigate the incident. The officers reported that Hyman gave off the impression that he was distressed about the breakup between him and his girlfriend.
“Hyman allegedly told officers that he wanted to kill himself and anyone else he saw arriving from an event at the FedEx Forum because his relationship with his girlfriend was coming to an end. They said that after Hyman was taken into custody, he was placed in handcuffs and then transported to a hospital for medical treatment as well as an evaluation.
