Mr. Momeni, who is 38 years old, is accused of stabbing the 43-year-old man after they argued while driving in San Francisco’s Rincon Hill neighborhood early on April 4.
At a news conference Thursday afternoon, San Francisco Police Chief Bill Scott confirmed what had been said about the case earlier in the day. He said that homicide detectives had named Nima Momeni, 38, the person who stabbed Lee.
Scott said that the case was still being looked into and that the cops would not give any more information. He also brushed off the question of how safe San Francisco is by telling reporters that Lee’s death showed the wrong side of people.
Scott stated, “Facts and research show that most people who kill someone know the person they kill.” “This is what the research indicates. This means I have an understanding of the perspectives of others. I can see and read it. San Francisco has nothing to do with this. This is about how people are.”

“We are not going to release any additional information at this time, but I must say that reckless and irresponsible statements like Elon Musk’s tweet, which made false assumptions about how Mr. Lee’s death misled the world about San Francisco and made it more difficult for crime victims to receive justice, as it distributes false information at a time when police are attempting to solve a challenging case.
The San Francisco County jail’s booking records show that Mr. Momeni was brought in on a murder charge at 9:19 a.m. on Thursday.
Thursday, Lee’s ex-wife Krista, his brother Tim Oliver Lee, and city officials all said he had been arrested.
What does Nima Momeni do?
His LinkedIn page says that he owns Expand IT and lives in Emeryville, which is in the Bay Area.
Expand IT is a “one-stop technology and security provider” for businesses that make enterprise software.
On his page, Mr. Momeni said that since 2005, he had worked as a “dedicated technology partner” for several tech companies in the Bay Area and San Jose, helping clients in healthcare, finance, and startups.
The bio says he attended the University of California, Berkeley, and speaks English and Farsi well.
Mr. Momeni’s property records showed he bought an apartment at 4053 Harlan St. in Emeryville in 2020 for $525,000.
Around 5 a.m., Mr. Momeni was picked up at the Emeryville home.
