Harvey Carignan, who was known as “the Want-Ad Killer” for killing a lot of people, has died at the age of 95. The bad guy died of natural causes in prison in Minnesota earlier this month. Harvey was suspected of murdering 19-year-old Leslie Laura Brock in 1972, but there was not enough evidence to charge him. He then raped and killed Kathy Sue Miller, who was 15, after she answered an ad for a job at his gas station. Her body was found after a few months. Then he moved to Minnesota with a woman named Eileen Hunley, but she left him and never came back. Her body was found after a few weeks, and Carignan was thought to have killed her. In 1974, he beat and sexually assaulted Gwen Burton. She was able to get away and told the police about it.
In 1974, Carignan kidnapped teenage girls Sally Versoi and Diane Flynn and made them do oral sex with him before they were able to escape. Later, he was caught and charged with trying to kill someone and aggravated sodomy. He said he was crazy and that God told him to “kill whores and harlots.”
But he was found to be guilty of both. Schultz and Hunley’s deaths were also put on Carignan’s list of crimes. He admitted to killing the first person and was given a 40-year sentence for second-degree murder. He was also found guilty of first-degree murder for killing Hunley and given a life sentence.
