Apple Car Keys can be used with a Google Pixel phone and additional Android phones soon

Apple Car Keys can be used with a Google Pixel phone, and more Android phones will soon be able to use them.
Apple Car Keys is one of the most exciting features of the iPhone’s Wallet because it shows how close we are to using only our phones. Even though only a few cars currently support Apple’s authentication to unlock and drive, the company made it possible to share Car Keys with other devices with iOS 16.1. Now, the Google Pixel is the first phone that isn’t an iPhone to get a shared key.
How does it work?

Apple works with the IEFT and other industry members to create a cross-platform car key-sharing standard. The first implementation of this standard is now available to owners of the Google Pixel. The company says that it will work with all Android 12 or newer devices in the future.
With Car Keys on Wallet, you can lock, unlock, and start your car with your iPhone or Apple Watch. Depending on the manufacturer, it can be easy to share your car keys. This is especially true now that Android phones can do it for the first time.
Apple says that to share your car key, you need to do the following:
- Open the iPhone’s Wallet app and choose a car key;
- Tap the Share button and pick how you want to share it;
- Give the shared key a name, set permissions, and decide if you want to add extra security by requiring an activation code;
- You can send it through Messages, the mail, WhatsApp, and other services;
- Tap Continue, sign in with Face ID, and do what it says on the screen;
If you need an activation code or your fundamental needs a Vehicle Code, the code shows up after you give the key to someone else. This one-time code is what the person you’re giving the key to needs to add to their device.
With that, it’s easier for a family member to use their iPhone or Google Pixel instead of their car’s physical keys to get in. Also read – Bluetooth SIG Certification for iQOO 11 International Variant Bags
